Golf Range Finders Comparison: CIGMAN CT-1000 vs CT1000 Pro

When comparing the CIGMAN CT-1000 and the CIGMAN CT-1000 Pro laser golf range finders, several key differences and similarities emerge. Both models offer high end features at a competitive price, but the CT-1000 Pro stands out with more functionality that may be worth the additional cash.

When comparing the CIGMAN CT-1000 and the CIGMAN CT-1000 Pro laser golf range finders, several key differences and similarities emerge. Both models offer high end features at a competitive price, but the CT-1000 Pro stands out with more functionality that may be worth the additional cash.

Differences: CIGMAN CT-1000 and CT-1000 Pro

One difference between the two models is that the CT-1000 Pro seemed to have locked onto the pin (or other target) more quickly than the CT-1000. The CT-1000 was not slow relative to other rangefinders, but at longer distance I seemed to get a better reading more quickly with the Pro version of the rangefinder. This may just have been my perception, because the superior screen in the pro model may have allowed me to more easily identify my targets at 200+ yards.

Another notable feature of the CT-1000 Pro is its red laser outline and higher quality OLED screen. The OLED screen provides a clearer and more vibrant display compared to the standard screen on the CT-1000. The improvement in display quality does significantly enhance the user experience, making it easier to read measurements and navigate the range finder’s interface. However, you have to take into account that the Pro model is close to 1.5x the cost of the original. Mind you, the cost of these golf range finders is one of the most attractive features that they offer. In a price comparison with some of the top name brands, these CIGMAN models can be several hundred dollars less without losing much accuracy or reliability.

The biggest difference between the two range finders is the “Azimuth mode”, which is only available on the pro model. This mode allows golfers to measure the distance between their ball in the fairway and the pin using trigonometry. You shoot the pin, then shoot your ball, and it gives you the distance between the them. This means that on a cart-path-only day, it helps golfers determine the exact distance without having to carry multiple clubs. By getting an accurate distance from the cart, Azimuth mode can help speed up rounds and make club selection easier.

In review:

  • CT-1000 Pro locks onto the target better than the standard version. Both models are comparable to other range finders.
  • CT-1000 Pro OLED screen makes it the more attractive from a visual + look and feel standpoint
  • Standard CT-1000 pro is an extremely cost effective option which should be more than satisfactory for most average golfers.
  • Azimuth Mode on the Pro model is extremely effective for those cart path only days.

Pros, Cons & Similarities of the Golf Range Finders

Both the CT-1000 and the CT-1000 Pro share several positive attributes. They both offer 7x magnification; this level of magnification is comparable to the magnification found in much more expensive range finders. Additionally, both range finders are equipped with features that enhance their functionality and ease of use, such as slope adjustment, which can be turned off for tournament play. Both golf range finders also contain a rechargeable battery via USB charging.

Despite their many advantages, both the CT-1000 and the CT-1000 Pro have a minor drawback. When shooting the pin from the cart, users may notice slightly different readings each time, with variations of 1-2 yards. While this discrepancy is relatively small and may not significantly impact most golfers, it is worth noting for those who are looking for certainty or extreme precision. Additionally, the magnet on both models is not strong enough to reliably stick to the cart, which is a bit inconvenient, but I just set the rangefinder in the cup holder anyway.

The CIGMAN CT-1000 and CT-1000 Pro are both quality rangefinders. The CT-1000 Pro offers several enhancements over the CT-1000, including faster pin lock, a higher quality OLED screen, and a very unique Azimuth mode. These features make the Pro a better option for those willing to spend a bit more. Both models provide a quick pin lock, nice magnification and are suitable for everyday use even for low handicap golfers.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Are the CIGMAN golf range finders accurate?

Yes! Despite the low cost of these range finders, we vigorously tested them against other top names in range finders. Our results proved that the CT-1000 and CT-1000 Pro are just as accurate and reliable for a much cheaper price.

What were your least favorite things about these range finders?

As stated in the article, and in our opinion, the two biggest drawbacks came from the occasional difficulty of locking on the pins and also the strength of the magnet.
