The CT-1200 CIGMAN Laser Rangefinder is a very affordable range finder for golfers not looking to break the bank. It’s accurate and has some new features that are a step up from the older versions (CT-1000 and CT-1000 PRO), such as its increased range, new external color display, smaller compact shape and, most importantly, cheaper price tag.

We’ll dive into some of the pros and cons of the newest CIGMAN model to see if this is a good fit for you and your golf game. In short, if you are looking for some advanced range finder features at an affordable price, this may be the option for you.

Pros of the CIGMAN CT-1200

The CIGMAN CT-1200 has many features that help it stand out against some of its competition. Without a doubt, it’s the price that sticks out to me. Straight from the CIGMAN website, you can buy this laser range finder for only $85.99! What’s even more special is that we’ve partnered with CIGMAN to provide you with another 15% off using our code: 15SwingYard

(Note: This code is good site-wide and not specifically for this range finder!)

Moving on, the range finder has other pros that should be called out, such as the new external color display. This allows you to snap onto your object and see the distance without having to peer through the tiny eyehole. You can see this feature in the banner image up above. Speaking of the banner image, you can see the 1,312y on the side, which is the newly increased range and capability. While this may not constitute a significant advantage for golfers specifically, these tools occasionally find application beyond the sport itself (hunting / target practice), warranting their inclusion in our review. The CIGMAN laser range finder is also chargeable via USB-C and comes with an extremely lightweight and compact design. Lastly, this rangefinder features slope adjustment, which has become indispensable in modern devices, coupled with remarkable precision. For clarity, I’ll summarize these key points in a more digestible format.

Cons of the CIGMAN CT-1200

The CIGMAN CT-1200 laser range finder has several pros that can persuade anyone to give it a try! It’s potentially the most affordable range finder on the market. However, given its cheap price, it does have some small drawbacks worth noting.

For example, the magnet is basically worthless. I had it on the side of my cart and it fell off on the third hole when we hit a mediocre-sized bump. The front plastic piece fell off, but the range finder was not damaged. Full disclosure, I’ve been told this model now contains a new and improved magnet, but I wanted to mention this in the version I tested.

Given that information, you can see that the physical quality of the device won’t hold up to some of the $400+ top-name comparables like the Bushnell, RedTiger or Callaway. Outside of that, this version also only has magnification up to 6x as opposed to its prior versions (CT-1000 and CT-1000 PRO), which contain 7x zoom. The CIGMAN laser range finder also has no waterproof rating at the moment, which gives it some uncertainty in different weather conditions. A final note, from my personal testing, is that I feel like the visibility and locking feature within the eye hole is lacking a bit. It can sometimes be hard to lock onto the flag (or target), especially when compared against other range finders. Similar to the pros, here are the downsides in a more concise list.

CT-1200 Final Verdict

The CT-1200 CIGMAN laser range finder is a top-of-the-line option for the price you have to pay, and it provides some very advanced features for such a low price tag. The performance is great, the accuracy is on-point, and it has additional features like slope and an external color display that is very convenient to have which sets it apart from any other range finder in this price range. Of course, there are things that your $400+ range finders will have that make them superior, but this truly is a good option for folks not looking to spend that kind of money.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does the CIGMAN CT-1200 have slope functionality, and is it tournament legal?

Yes, it does have slope and has the ability to turn slope off, which would make it legal for tournaments.

How accurate is the CT-1200 compared to premium rangefinders like Bushnell?

The CT-1200 is accurate within ±1 yard, which is excellent for its price. As I mentioned in the article above, the only drawback, at times, is the ability to lock onto the target.

Is the CT-1200 waterproof or weather-resistant?

While the CT-1200 can handle light rain, it does not have an official waterproof rating and should not be used in heavy rain.

What makes the CT-1200 better than the CT-1000 or CT-1000 Pro?

The CT-1200 includes a bright external color display, faster measurements, and a lighter design—features not found in the older models.

Where can I buy the CT-1200 laser range finder?

The best place is straight from the CIGMAN website and using our promo code: 15SwingYard
